| Posted By: Mr. Cappiello Jan 19, 2012 Klondike 2012 Reminders:
*********************
We will meet in the St.Joe’s rear parking lot at 4pm Friday and leave shortly thereafter. The trip to Hoyt Scout Reservation, in Redding, will take about 1/2 hour. This will leave us roughly 1/2 hr of daylight to set up camp, so we don’t want to be running late.
The weather forecast is calling for a wintery mix. It will be very important to keep dry. This means don’t forget rain gear, an extra set of dry clothing, and extra pairs of boots and gloves. Zip lock bags and trash bags are great for helping to keep your gear dry. Plan to dress in multiple layers and avoid cotton – wearing wool and synthetics only. Don’t forget a knit cap (or two) and extra socks. As always, bring at least one water bottle.
Klondike is scheduled to officially end at 4pm Saturday. That should put us home at the CES school parking lot at about 4:30pm. However, if weather conditions warrant, we may trying sneaking out a bit early – possibly as soon as our patrol finishes the course. Please make sure that Mr. Cappiello has a phone number at which he can contact you if the need arises.
Snow would certainly add to the fun of this event. But let’s hope the storm brings only snow, at least until we’re all home safe and sound.
